Savourna has performances throughout 2011 and 2012 with NYCoS, the National Youth Choirs of Scotland.

Local NYCoS choirs are joining Savourna as her concert guests at venues from Dumfries to Stornoway and will be performing her songs specially commissioned by NYCoS. Savourna will perform on both the small harp and pedal harp with a programme including her own compositions alongside virtuosic works by Debussy, Hasslemans and Ravel.

If you would like to hear Savourna’s songs specially written for NYCoS, they have also been included on the Misterstourworm CD, performed by the Orchestra of Scottish Opera with the Edinburgh NYCoS choir and the RSNO Junior Chorus.

After the recent NYCoS 15th Anniversary concert with the RSNO and a 600 strong children’s choir, the Herald ( 10th May 2011 ) wrote "Savourna Stevenson’s ‘Waiting for the Silver-sailed Moon’ for the upper voices was again confirmed as the loveliest tune to have been created by the choral organisation’s commissioning work".

Catrin Finch and the Scottish Ensemble will premier and tour Savourna Stevenson’s new Concerto for Pedal Harp in June 2012.

Savourna’s latest composition, her Concerto for Pedal Harp, will be premiered at the Edinburgh Queen’s Hall in June 2012 by the internationally acclaimed harp virtuoso Catrin Finch, followed by a series of performances around the Scottish Highlands & Islands.

The new concerto has been commissioned by Holywell Music ( London dealers for Salvi and Lyon & Healy pedal harps ) to celebrate 200 years of the modern pedal harp since the invention of the double-action pedal mechanism ( patented by harp maker Sebastian Erard in 1811 ) ... a remarkable feat of engineering which gave the harp a new harmonic versatility and won its place in the modern symphony orchestra.

This is an exciting new work in which the composer explores the modern pedal harp’s full potential for harmonic freedom while drawing inspiration from 19th and 20th century composers who championed the instrument ... and with a performance from the remarkable Catrin Finch, this is guaranteed to be an exciting premier.
